Last Exit to Brooklyn

Last Exit To Brooklyn - Hubert Selby Jr. I finally found a paperback copy of this, in the hopes that seeing the written words on the page would give me a better sense of the book's structure...Eh. Not so much!Still, this is a fantastic read. I can only imagine how confronting this must have seemed when it was first released. Even now, I think it would be hard to read without being shocked by some piece of human ugliness. Rarely have I seen so many characters portrayed in such an unflattering light. But there's a positive aspect to many of them too - if only their strength or determination. There's a sense of harsh reality to this novel that you can't ignore.
